All About Ms. Cruz

 

My name is Ronna Cruz, and this is my 28th year of teaching.  I started teaching 7th grade in 1993 in Brownsville, Tx at the age of 24.  I then took 2 years off to stay home with my first child.  I have also worked as a 5th grade teacher, 3rd grade teacher, 2nd grade teacher, and a reading specialist.  My bachelor's degree in education was received from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and I am certified to teach grades 1-8 as well as holding a certificate in Reading and English as a Second Language.  I moved to Dripping Springs 19 years ago and love teaching here.  I have two amazing daughters; my youngest is 21 and exploring the working world, and my eldest is 27 and is a dog trainer and manages at Opal Divine's Austin Grill.  They are the key to my zest for life.  We also have a crazy cat named Hazel that loves to play fetch, and makes me smile. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I grew up in a "foreign service" family who traveled to new posts often.  I guess that would make me a military brat.  I was born in Paris, France.  From there, my family moved to many places.  Marseilles, France; New Delhi, India;  Okinawa, Japan;  Mashhad, Iran;  Tijuana, Mexico;  Vancouver, British Columbia;  Matamoros, Mexico;  Brownsville, Texas;  Port Isabel, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; Camp Pendleton, California;  Oceanside, California; Los Fresnos, Texas;  Wimberley, Texas;  Dripping Springs, Texas;  Kyle, Texas; and now I live in Austin.  WOW!  That's a lot isn't it?  I still love to travel, and get antsy when I don't get to take a little trip every now and then.  These experiences definitely gave me an appreciation for different cultures and people in general.  I wouldn't trade them for anything!!  Feel free to ask me questions about my travels :)
